In light of what has been going on to the economy in the past few months it’d be interesting to see how much these guys fortunes have diminished. I read an article last week that said Abramovich had lost over €7 billion due to the credit crunch.

Forbes rich list is due out in April.

Good point Adam, nobody is really in Abramovich territory, are they? Still, Lewis’ little known offshore wealth is remarkable.

Just one small comment, you suggest that Joe Lewis is in Abramovich’s territory, but you would need to add on the wealth of people in 2nd to 6th in order to be level!

It is quite astounding to see that list and the amount of money people have to potentially invest in clubs. You are right in that there is so much money flying around the Premiership in particular they are investing with minimal risk as they are almost guaranteed to make a huge profit.

I don’t however see too many fans complaining when an Abramovich, Glazer or Hicks comes in and splashes £20million on one player though, so until the bubble bursts I think billionaire investors are here to stay.
