If Beckham Plays, That’ll Be $100 Extra
Scalpers, ticket touts, call them what you will, they’re the scourge of true fans everywhere. Toronto supporters have been monitoring closely the activities of scalpers ahead of their game with LA Galaxy this weekend on Craigslist, the uber-popular online marketplace.
Our own TFC contributer, Michael, will have more on this later (TFC fans have fought back), but I came across a particularly amusing posting by one “fan” selling his tickets on Craiglist.
Since Beckham’s status is still up in the air (see the CBC report at the end of this message)…I would like to sell these tickets for $60 each, $120 for the pair if Beckham does not play. If Beckham does end up playing then I will process another $100 on your credit card.
So it’s $120 or best offer for the pair if Beckham does NOT play and $220 or best offer if Beckham DOES play.
So if Beckham comes on in the last ten minutes for another brilliant cameo like his stultifying ten minutes against Chelsea last month — which is what Laurie at her super LA Galaxy blog predicts will happen — the lucky fan who bought those tickets will pay an extra $100. Which is almost as much as Beckham would earn himself for those ten minutes.
And maybe if Becks does come on and actually scores one of his trademark free-kicks, the fan will happily let the Craigslist seller max out his card. It’s all worth it for Becks, right?
