I agree, there are hard core fans in every sport, i think that the level of loyalty to a team is higher in soccer....More fans on an average basis bleed the colors of their club/country in soccer than in other sports. period. look at your example...you know how they always show hefty guys with no shirts on painted green and yellow for green bay in the snow during football season? how many guys are doing that? as many as it takes to spell "Packers" usually, and there are other people there who are die hards as well, but look at the fans of a club like say AC Milan, or Fenerbahce S.K. or Lech Poznan! the ENTIRE STADIUM ranging from 20,000 to 90,000 people get in on this sort of "die hard" behavior and mentality...The whole stadium will light a flare in Istanbul, or they will all hold up a huge flag of their crest in Milan, or they will all hold up colored tiles to make the entire stadium blue and white in Poznan. You just dont see this kind of loyalty/behavior in any other sport...

i think that is what he is trying to say..

BTW great time watching the game with Carlos, Matt, and you David...that front row was hysterical and had me rolling all night! lol :)

Ummm... I hate to break it to you. But that doesn't separate a thing. Go to any regular season Cleveland Browns game for one example. As much as you guys like to think it, there isn't something that separates Association football supporters from other sports fans. Every sport has die hard fans where every play, every game is a big game. Hell, you quoted a basketball coach. I like this website, but drop the elitist soccer attitude. Don't include me in your generalization of Americans that understand the "concept on some level". Maybe YOU have a long way to go, but there are thousands of American fans out there that live it every game.
